I've never seen a company that OVER recognized their employees.
Not even once.
Recognition is not just about making people feel happy or appreciated.
If you never acknowledge what's going well, how are people meant to know what good looks like?
Next time you notice a problem before you dive in to fix it, try this instead.
First, find three things to appreciate and recognize:
- Tell people personally
- Be specific; give an example.
- Mention the impact, not just what you like.
A healthy and productive culture does not come only from removing any trace of the bad. It requires nurturing the good.
Be the role model your company needs.
For six months, I made this my daily habit, highlighting three good things before any negative ones.
My positivity and happiness improved, and others welcomed the appreciation. Will you give it a try for one week?
